Semester at Sea is a unique type of study abroad program. Students may take college courses while on board a cruise ship that is traveling around the world. Some students may wish to learn in different ways than sitting in a classroom. These programs are not new, but some organizations have offered them for many years.

As an alumnus of Semester at Sea who traveled on the Summer 2010 voyage, I know what it's really like to learn on a floating campus and study in a dozen countries all over the world. SEA Semester offers study abroad semester at sea programs focusing on oceanography, environmental studies, marine biology, sailing tall ships, and the environmental study of oceans. Semester at Sea (SaS) is a study-abroad program which was founded in 1963 and managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Educational Philosophy; Academic Credit SEA currently offers seven different semester programs with areas of study that include Anthropology, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Conservation and Management, Environmental Policy, Environmental Studies, Humanities, International Studies, Leadership, Marine Science, and Sustainability.
